Jonathan Werner

Jonathan Werner received his BS in Health Science from California State University Chico in 2017 and is currently enrolled in the MBA program, expected to graduate May 2025.

He began his career in healthcare working on the payor side managing group insurance policies. After seven years working in insurance services he began working for a health technology start up specializing in health information exchange. He spent the next seven years working for a not for profit community health organization working to improve patient medical outcomes. Over the next seven years Jon worked with organizational partners to grow the organization to be an industry leader with a nationally recognized reputation.

Jon joined Redwood Institute of Social Research (RISR) in June 2024. He brings years of experience coordinating complicated projects involving changing industry standards, state and federal regulations, HIT compliance, and contracted reimbursement rates. Jon’s experience working for in large systems helps to develop and evolve policies, procedures and workflows that scale as RISR grows. His knowledge of LEAN efficiencies aligns with RISR’s data driven processes for identifying areas of improvement and developing methods to bring workflows in line with organizational goals.

Jon moved to Humboldt County in 2022 and joining RISR provides the opportunity to reconnect with community partners. Working to improve the lives of our community is an enriching feeling. Jon’s excited to be part of a team that helps local organizations continuously identify areas of improvement and develop methods to bring workflows in line with organizational goals.
