Ruth Bautista-Sanchez

Research Assistant

Butte County, CA

Ruth Sanchez is a Master of Social Work (MSW) student at California State University, Chico. She is passionate about understanding social work’s ethics, policies, and clinical aspects so that she can give back to underserved communities with intention and empathy.

During her undergraduate studies at the University of California Irvine Transfer Center, she developed advocacy, research, and education skills as a peer educator. She assisted students from diverse backgrounds, particularly student parents and non-traditional students.

Additionally, she gained hands-on experience as a Helpline Specialist at NAMI Intern, effectively assisting individuals seeking mental health supportive resources. She engaged in one-on-one reflective listening during live interactions, enabling her to understand the individuals' needs better. This experience sparked a strong interest in advocating for and educating mental well-being within underrepresented populations.

As she continues her education, she aims to enhance her research skills at the Redwood Institute of Social Research. She enjoys yoga, baking, napping, exploring new culinary experiences, and cherishing moments spent with her family and friends in her leisure time.
