Sarah Fine

Research Assistant

Humboldt County, CA

Sarah Fine was born and raised in Cleveland, Ohio, and spent her summers as a teenager in the mountains of Lake County, California. She holds a BA in International Studies from California State Polytechnic University Humboldt, and completed the program residency abroad requirement at Leuphana Universität Lüneburg, Germany. 


While at Cal Poly Humboldt, she planned and executed multidisciplinary research projects on both local and global scales, covering topics ranging anywhere from sustainable food production in Humboldt County to cultural remnants of the Cold War near the Berlin Wall. Sarah’s academic and professional interests include linguistics, cartography, sustainability, social and economic inequity, community organization, and the effects of globalization.


In her spare time, Sarah enjoys reading, baking, gaming, painting, and exploring tide pools along the coast; she can also be regularly seen playing flute, saxophone, or trumpet in several local bands.
